795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque—that’s what you get if you opt for the Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC, the latest addition to the American muscle car family.
This new iteration of the sports car was developed alongside the Mustang GTD and the Mustang GT3. Needless to say, performance is at the very core of its concept.
The Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC is powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, delivering an astonishing 795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque. For comparison, the standard Mustang Dark Horse produces 500 horsepower from its 5.0-liter V8.
The American automaker’s latest muscle car is equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also benefits from the latest generation of MagneRide suspension, allowing for optimal control on the track.
The Mustang Dark Horse SC also features a more aggressive body and more pronounced aerodynamic elements than the regular version. Its rear wing alone generates 2.5 times more downforce. Ford has also gone all out on the tire setup, with a track package that includes 20-inch carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, along with carbon-ceramic brakes.
The Mustang Dark Horse SC fills the gap between the Mustang Dark Horse and the Mustang GTD, further expanding the lineup of Ford’s iconic sports car. While many would have liked to see the Shelby GT500 return, Ford seems to be taking a different approach with the Dark Horse model.
The concept is different, and it may take some time for enthusiasts to fully embrace it. However, the Dark Horse nameplate certainly gives Ford more flexibility, which ultimately benefits buyers.
